Something I’ve been having a lot of fun with the past couple of days is creating “promotional posters” for the planets that appear in my science fiction novel, Chasing Shadows. I’ve been keeping these simple, but I’m pretty pleased with the results overall, and they’ve been a fun way to introduce people to the worlds that appear in the novel outside of showing them the text itself. I also decided to make these available for purchase as art prints, posters, and a bunch of other stuff through Society6 and Redbubble. If you’re interested in checking them out, I’d greatly appreciate it!
Here are the first three completed posters for the worlds that appear in the first book:
Phan: Predominantly a forest world, Phan is also a busy hub, seeing a lot of of merchants and travelers come and go every day. Some have settled permanently on this world, and its Earth-like atmosphere makes it habitable for humans, provided they don’t mind consistently cloudy weather. Situated at the very edge of the Andromeda Reach, Phan is the last major port planet safe enough for travelers to visit. Dangerous renegades abound further into the Reach.
Yuna: A desert world scorched and burning under its sun, Yuna is an unlikely place to find life, but the native life is even harsher than the landscape, and so endures.
Ametria: A hostile planet with deadly wildlife, the Star Federation strongly discourages travel anywhere near Ametria. Situated several light years from the closest port planet Phan, travelers rarely pass through Ametria’s system, and any sort of activity around this massive planet is scarce at best. Most starship captains agree that this planet is best left alone.
I am planning on making more of these for the worlds that appear in books 2 and 3, but not until those novels have definite release dates at the very least. They will definitely come, though, so if you’re interested in seeing more, keep your eyes open!
